Belgian Chocolate & Japanese Plum Wine?
Washington D.C. is a great place for happy hours. Multiple bars and restaurants and thousands of eager young professionals looking for food & drinks tend to make for a fun night. But Mach Media no doubt set a first for D.C. happy hours by combining elements of Belgian and Japanese culture into one exciting event.
We held our grand opening happy hour this month at our new U.S. headquarters – which has a great view of the White House!
The event drew about 50 people as we developed a dual theme of the popular Japanese Cherry Blossom festival (which was in full swing at the time) and Belgian culture. Attendees networked while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and drinks. We gave a quiz featuring Belgian trivia and winners received gifts such as Japanese plum wine, Godiva chocolate and Belgian beer. Surprisingly enough, attendees had trouble naming three famous Belgians. And nobody even mentioned Jean Claude Van Damme, Justine Henin or Kim Clijsters!
The main purpose of the event was to introduce Mach Media to other companies in the building and have some fun with our neighbors. Everything ran smoothly, attendance was great and we ended up exploring business opportunities with several of our new friends.
